ENHANCED MULTI-CREW COOPERATION COURSE TO AIRLINE PILOT STANDARDS (APS MCC)

GENERAL

The objective of an APS MCC training is to deliver enhanced Multi Crew Cooperation training to Airline Pilot standards (APS). The course is designed to develop and achieve multi-crew cooperation competencies in an airline context and for this purpose the elements of the MCC training are enhanced as a result of additional training in an airline context including advanced sweptwing jet aeroplane training and advanced airline operations scenario training.

The APS MCC course is approved by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) under the requirements of EASA.

The training is developed using the evidence-based training (EBT) methodology.

The curriculum combines classroom and simulator activity to introduce and promote non-technical skills that

contribute significantly to aviation safety.

Instruction is provided by our team of professional airline experienced instructors, each with a wealth of flying experience and an urge to pass on to the next generation of pilots the knowledge and enthusiasm accrued over many years in the aviation profession.

ENTRY QUALIFICATION

  • Hold a valid CPL/IR; or
  • Hold a valid PPL/IR; or
  • Attend an ATP integrated course.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The learning objectives of the APS MCC training includes decision making, communication, division of tasks, use of checklists, mutual supervision and teamwork throughout all phases of flight under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. The training emphasises the development of non-technical skills applicable in an airline multi-crew environment. MCC course also includes the opportunity to practice the skills that are necessary to be effective team leaders and members. This is achieved by training exercises (LOFT – Line Oriented Flight Training) in which the applicants are crewmembers in the Pilot Flying (PF) and the Pilot Monitoring (PM) roles.

Main areas covered in the course are:

  • CRM skills (situational awareness, workload management, leadership and teamworking, problem solving,
  • decision making)
  • Personality, attitude and motivation
  • Effective and clear communication during flight
  • Crew cooperation procedures
  • Use of checklists
  • Mutual supervision, information and support
  • Call-out procedures
  • Operation of aircraft systems
  • Crewmember roles and responsibilities during normal and abnormal operations

CLASSROOM TRAINING

The theoretical training comprises 45 hours. During the classroom phase trainees explore the theory of team working and the cooperative skills that are employed on the flight deck to enhance crew performance. They examine the relationships between man, machine and the environment and how, by adopting a professional approach, individuals can interact more effectively.

Trainees will also be instructed in flight deck management and operational issues that will arise during the simulator phase of the course, in particular the application of Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs) during normal, non normal and emergency flight conditions. These procedures have been adapted from actual airline procedures to provide an environment that is representative of a typical airline operation

SIMULATOR TRAINING

Simulator training comprises 40 hours (36 hours for ATP integrated students).

Trainees are rostered in pairs, flying as crew members in realistic, real time operational scenarios that put into practice the theory learned in the classroom. Each daily activity comprises 2 flight exercises exchanging roles between trainees to gain experience in both the pilot flying (PF) and the pilot monitoring (PM) roles.

THE SIMULATOR:

The simulator used for APS MCC training is an ALSIM ALX, certified as FNPT II.

The ALSIM ALX simulator offers up to 4 classes of aircraft – from single engine piston, twin engine piston, twin turbine up to medium category twin jet. The type used for APS MCC is the medium twin engine jet (generic B737/A320).

The simulator is equipped with glass cockpit displays, dual FMS, Garmin GTN 650, smoke generator, TCAS and weather radar. It is also equipped with ultra-high definition projectors and a 208° x 49° angle screen providing an incredibly immersive experience.

Note: the price is for one individual and based upon two student pilots undertaking the course at the same time.
