Introduction
The theoretical part of the training prepares students, who have successfully completed the selection tests, for the official "Airline Pilot" examinations organized by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC).
This theoretical training is combined with.
Every subject is taught by professionals, most often airline pilots or engineers, physics or aviation master graduates.
Program
The subjects of the courses in order to prepare the students for the final ATPL theoretical examination organized by ENAC, are as follows:
• Air law and Regulations
• Aircraft general knowledge
• Basic Principles of flight
• Communication
• Flight planning
• Aircraft performance, weight and balance
• Human Performance and Limitations
• Meteorology
• Navigation
• Operational procedures
Students receive 750hrs of classroom courses, including revisions and exams preparations. Every single hour is taught by an instructor with the help of modern didactic tools (no self study, nor computer based training). Exercise sessions or practical sessions are also organized.
Active learning
In order to increase motivation and to facilitate comprehension, Aeroclub Varese offers the opportunity to perform observation sessions during MCC actual simulator training and one airline observation flight with a major airline as an observer on the jump seat in the cockpit of a commercial aircraft.
This to provide trainees with a general idea of the actual job of an airline pilot life and the airline environment.

Evaluations
Periodical evaluations are organized in order to help the students develop an optimum study rhythm and to prepare them for the ATPL exam. Whereas the official ATPL exam is a multiple choice test, our evaluations also contain many questions requiring a written answer.
Preparing to pass the ATPL exam is not the only issue; we prepare our students for their commercial pilot career!
In order to provide the most efficient preparation for the multiple choice exam, our trainees have access to a JAR question bank containing more than 11.000 questions. An individual follow-up is organized by the ground instructors.
An internal test has to be passed prior to be admitted to the final exam with the Authority.
ATPL theory examination
The "Airline Pilot" or "ATPL" examination is a national exam organized by ENAC Italian Aviation Authorities. This exam consists in 14 separate tests and is performed in a block of four days period.
The calendar of the exams is issued yearly by ENAC and published on: www.enac-italia.it .

Flight training
Flight instruction is conveniently and effectively delivered “in house”, thanks to Venegono Airport exclusive location, fair climate, facilities, complexity of the airspace and the consistent number of airports available for navigations.
A fleet of modern, well maintained and equipped aircraft guarantees our students with high quality training.
Program
The flight training consists of 4 phases:
Phase 1:
• basic training in a single-engine C-172
• progress checks
• Issue of a Student Pilot Certificate
Phase 2:
• Advanced training in a C-172 RG – PA-28
• Instrument flying
Phase 3:
• Final part of IR training in a PA-28, PA-32
Phase 4:
• CPL-IR-ME training and final check on the PA-34 for the admission to the practical exam. During some of the navigation training flights, one student will act as a pilot flying, a second one as an observer. This actually increase the amount of hours spent in the air.
MCC training:
• The program is focused not only to the Human Factor aspects, but also to develop professional flying skills and concepts.
• Provides 10 hrs FNTP II Simulator in excess the flight time required for a JAR-FCL MCC Course (30 hrs v/s 20 hrs)
• Prepare the trainee for the next step in his career: the simulator evaluation session of the selection procedures for a job as First Officer at an airline.
