Becoming pilots at the “AeroClub” di Varese:
• enrolment file;
• checkup.
To enrol as a member of the “AeroClub di Varese” you need to fill in some forms you can find at the secretary’s office. All the documents you have to produce are listed below.
Before starting the lessons you need to undergo a checkup with the Legal Medical Institute of “Aeronautica Militare” in Milan. This checkup is requested by the school of flying, so the “AeroClub di Varese” will release a letter consenting the booking for the checkup at the Legal Medical Institute mentioned above.
Only after passing your checkup you can start flying lessons. At this point you will get your teaching material, your selected trainer, the airplane you will fly and the scheduled programme concerning theory and flying lessons according to your needs.
The first target is the Certificate of Student Pilot: it constitutes the first degree of training to be able to get the Certification of Private Pilot; this part of the training is fixed by a Ministry Programme of 12 flying hours with a trainer on board followed by an examination to be made with the Director of the School of Flying. After obtaining this certification, you can take off as a soloist and go on with the training programme to obtain the Certification as a Private Pilot.
To get this certification any student needs 45 flying hours, the previous 12 flying hours are included in the 45. You will be trained so as to be able to fly to other airports: at first you will fly together with your trainer, then alone, flying according to the rules concerning sight flight. At the end of this training, after an examination held at the “AeroClub” which you will have to pass, every student will have to take a theoretical/practical examination held by a Ministry Commission in the premises of the “AeroClub di Varese”.
When you get the Licence of Private Pilot, you can fly together with your friends or acquaintances on a touristic purpose all over Italy and, thanks to an additional examination assessing your knowledge of the English language, all over the world.
To be able to keep your Licence of Private Pilot you have to fly 12 hours a year.
After obtaining the Licence of Private Pilot and with a minimum experience, if you want, you can pass other qualifying examinations such as the qualification for the multiengine flight, for the blind/instrument flight or, if you have an A-level, you can take courses to become a professional pilot.
Anyway, even if flying is only a hobby, you will get considerable satisfaction.
